Suntech Power awards 75-million contract to HUBER+SUHNER
Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. (NYSE: STP), one of the world’s leading manufacturers of photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules, has chosen HUBER+SUHNER as its partner for supplying connectivity systems. Over the next two to three years, the Swiss company HUBER+SUHNER, which specialises in electrical and optical connectivity solutions, will supply specific junction boxes, cables and connectors to Suntech. The total contract is worth CHF 75 million.

The 39th Annual General Shareholders’ Meeting of HUBER+SUHNER for fiscal 2007 took place yesterday, Wednesday, 16th April 2008. The shareholders approved all the resolutions proposed by the board.

HUBER+SUHNER continues its solid path of growth
In fiscal 2007, the HUBER+SUHNER Group, a global provider of electrical and optical connectivity solutions, exceeded the strong growth it achieved in 2006 and once again grew at a double-digit rate. Order intake increased by 13.6% from CHF 689.3 million to CHF 783 million. Turnover grew by 11.6% to CHF 731 million from CHF 655.2 million in the previous year, and that of continued business activities (without non-core business activities shed in the year under review) rose even more sharply by 14.8% compared with a year ago.
HUBER+SUHNER to appoint two new members of Group Management
The HUBER+SUHNER Group with headquarters in Herisau and Pfäffikon, Switzerland, which is active in the field of electrical and optical connectivity, has appointed two new members of Group Management after the in april announced reorganisation of the Group. This has been decided by the Group Management and the Board of Directors at their December meeting 2007. Patrick Riederer (42) will take charge of the new Low Frequency Division effective January 1st, 2008, and Urs Ryffel (40) of the Fiber Optics Division. The third division, Radio Frequency, continues to be headed by Hanspeter Bär. With this step, HUBER+SUHNER is systematically focusing its corporate organisation on the three core technologies: Radio Frequency, Fiber Optics and Low Frequency.
HUBER+SUHNER sells BERKOL Business Unit to Rieter
Effective January 1st, 2008, HUBER+SUHNER sells the BERKOL Business Unit to the Winterthur (CH) based Rieter Group. BERKOL specialises in the supply of components for textile machines. The contract was signed yesterday, November 12th, 2007, without disclosure of the selling price. The sale of the non-core BERKOL Business Unit is in line with the strategy of HUBER+SUHNER to focus on electrical and optical connectivity solutions.
